Matt And Ralph Say “I Dewey” At Their Fun-Filled Ivy Dewey Beach Wedding
You can tell by the wedding hashtag – #mattandralphsayidewey – that this was a wedding for the books from the beginning!
I’ve known Matt and Ralph for years. When they asked me to meet them for a drink to chat about an event, I was a little suspicious of what they had in mind. A few drinks down and they finally popped the question to me: would Elevee Events plan their wedding? More importantly, could I keep most of the plans a secret from all of our mutual friends?
I love surprises almost as much as I love my friends, so my answer to both questions was a resounding, “Yes!”
The guys already knew pretty much what they wanted. They love Dewey and wanted every one of their guests to have the best time at their party. We looked at hot spots Northbeach and Ivy, and toured the spaces in the dead of winter, before they opened for business. Each of the venues has multiple options that the guys were attracted to. In the end they selected them both! We started the cocktail hour and ceremony at Northbeach and then moved onto Ivy, which is situated right on the bay and is as infamous for their night life as they are for their food. It was the perfect place to celebrate the newlyweds.
We knew from the get-go that this was not going to be a cookie cutter wedding. The grooms exchanged vows on the dock in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, with their three French bulldogs at their side. No amount of rain could wipe the smiles off their faces!
The reception was a blast, with a guest appearance by the best Cher impersonator in the country and a late night pizza delivery courtesy of Grotto’s Pizza. This was certainly one of the most memorable weddings of the year!
The talented Liz Sexton captured the night and shared some of her photos below. I hope you have as much fun seeing these as I did working with Matt and Ralph to pull off such a fun and amazing party!
